5 Ways To Relax And Unwind

It’s close to the end of the year, we’re all overwhelmed with work, preparing for the festive season and tying up loose ends. Basically, chaos. Add in the stress of setting out plans and goals for the new year, and we’re all bound to be going a little nuts, so I thought this would be the perfect time to share some unwinding techniques I love.

1.Meditation

Headspace App- available on iOS and Android

I’ve always battled with anxiety, and in the past 2 years, it’s gotten worse. After trying and failing a bunch of different ways to calm down, I decided to give meditation a try. It was one of the best choices I’ve made. I had always had this misconception that it involved chanting and all that, but really, guided meditations are just an assistant in helping you take a step back, breathe and re-align your headspace and atmosphere. A good app I enjoy using for my guided meditation is the app Headspace, which can be found in your App Store for free, with the option of paid upgrades, which aren’t that necessary.

  1. Coloring

Before you laugh, I’m not referring to a pack of 64 crayons and a Mickey Mouse coloring book. Adult coloring has been the rage for a few years now with a huge variety of options in stores and online. I absolutely love coloring. For some reason, the intricacies of the pictures, the depths of the amazing color pencils and pens you can buy these days is a huge stress reliever for me. There are a number of websites and stores that you can pick these up from.

3.Journaling

Something I learnt from my late grandmother was to write down my prayers. It’s just a way to sometimes set on paper the chaos going on in my mind. You may not be religious, but simply jotting down your thoughts is a good way to make sense of things and to recollect. So go grab a cute notebook and get writing. You’re bound to feel lighter after each entry.

  1. Netflix and chill.

Sometimes a good series binge is really all you need to sit back and relax. Grab your favorite snacks and get binging with services such as Netflix and Showmax.

  1. Home spa

I don’t know any woman that doesn’t feel better after a good shampoo, scrub and soak. A good sheet mask accompanied by an evening with a foot spa is all a girl needs sometimes. So head to your local beauty shop or pharmacy, grab a Korean sheet mask, a little bath bomb, and go live your best life.

I’d love to know, what are your tips and tricks to unwind?
