Today is a special day for me. It marks 3 years since I started this little blog. What a crazy adventure it’s been.
Although technically, I have been blogging for around 5 years, for the first 2 were spent hiding behind book and music reviews. Don’t get me wrong, I love review blogs, I still incorporate them into Princess Warrior, but in all honesty, I was just hiding. I’ve always been opinionated, particularly about women, equality and mental health. But for many years, I was too afraid to use my voice, afraid of what people would say and think.
Starting this blog and sharing my truth was probably one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. Baring yourself to the world is a terrifying thing, and it’s something not many will understand. More than that, it’s a tricky concept, because finding the balance between sharing enough and sharing too much can be tough. I’m still learning everyday.
As much as I am terrified by what I share daily, the stories I’ve shared from other brave women and girls have kept me motivated for these past 3 years to keep sharing the truth, no matter how I’m judged for it. It takes a tough skin, because often people don’t understand this blogging world, so they choose to insult it instead. It’s hard not to make a big deal of every bad comment or remark, but I’ve learnt that we all have different truths, and I have to be brave enough to share mine if I want to inspire other women and future generations of girls to share theirs.
This isn’t gonna be a long, drawn out post. My point in celebrating today is to thank a few people. Firstly, my family. To have people who respect what you do, and cheer you on is a rare thing. I’m truly blessed to have people who understand my need to speak out for change. Thank you, I love you all.
Next I’d like to thank every brave girl and woman who has chosen to share their stories and experiences on this platform. I’ve laughed with you and cried with you. I’ve felt the nervousness you have to put your truth out there. Thank you for your braveness.
I’d also love to thank every brand that has chosen to partner and collaborate with Princess Warrior. Thank you for seeing the potential and reach of this blog and for trusting me with your products.
Lastly, thank you to my readers. There are so many blogs in the world. Thank you for choosing to read mine. Thank you for your comments and feedback, even the few nasty ones. They’ve made me stronger and taught me about the world around me. You inspire me to share my story and the stories of so many brave, inspiring women.
Here’s to the next three,
